February 26th

The dance at the nursing home is coming up fast. We've decided NOT to do food as there are just too many varied diet restrictions. We have the music already and I will be working on "goodies" and decorations soon. The paint and smocks have been delivered.

In regard to the latest project, Giants Fall Down, I have made approximately 300 pink crosses, but they are not all written on yet. I am putting the list of almost three hundred names on the crosses and "Not Forgotten" on the others.

I have given out about fifty postcards or so which I got from Vista Print for dirt cheap - if you sign up for their site they have specials frequently. I got 1,000 regular sized post cards for about 70 dollars. Good thing I got them when I did too as now I am rather flat broke - money comes - money goes, I'll have more soon :D

I have been "sitting in" on the Sunday School class, which has been good and thought provoking. It's still fun to sit and talk and fellowship together.

I helped with the Women's Conference because I was asked and it all worked out well. I met Jennifer Beckham who totally rocks. Her website is: Snow White Ministries

Some women would be put off by her appearance and that's a shame because she is a sweet, god filled, wonderful (and very friendly!) woman. And she totally rocks.

I am behind on my death row letters yet again, which irks me because I've worked REALLY hard at staying on top of them - I desperately need helpers still so if you are inclined to write - contact me and I'll give you a name and address of ONE inmate.

February 18th

I've missed posting a few weeks - sorry about that - but we have been active!

I've moved on the preaching schedule to the second week of every month. Sure enough, I had to ask a very good friend to cover my FIRST week on the schedule due to an attack of the enemy, but that friend a word in due season so it was all good. I also asked the activity director what would be a good blessing for them - they said paint and smocks. SO I hit the goodwill where you can buy clothing by the pound and grabbed many button down shirts and I hit walmart where you can buy bottles of paint for approximately 50 cents. Cost? About twenty dollars - but priceless. Wooo Hooo.

I have ordered the postcards to pray for the women of Juarez and have put up a website as well. You can find the website here and if you would like me to mail you a post card, send your information to postcards @ giantsfalldown.com (remove the spaces prior to mailing).

I have been sitting in the Sunday School class which has been good.

I have also submitted a proposal to the church to erect 600 crosses on church property to remind folks to pray for the women of Juarez. This will not take place until September 16th which is Independence Day in Mexico.

The dance is scheduled for March 16th and I have to work on that yet - we have the music - I just need some warm bodies and what not.

I have given out about 70 postcards or so - more to follow.

That's not really all at the moment, but all I can think of - it's early and I am not fully awake yet.

Wooo Hooo Thank you Jesus!

Wooo Hoo Plans & Plans

February 3, 2008

I have the postcard for praying for Juarez nearly done - just have to do the backside.

I found out that Juarez is two hours behind our time zone, so I will be enlisting people to pray for the times that women get off work by schedule.

I was at the nursing home yesterday and found out they need paint and smocks so I'll bring those with me next weekend when I preach.

WOOO HOOO Go God!

February 2nd - The Women of Juarez

I am so done.

I am not even sure I have words to write about this.

I learned of the hundreds of women who have been murdered after sexual assult in Juarez, Mexico when there were only 300 women killed. Now there are 420 killed AND 400 missing.

Here are some videos for your information:

This to me is utterly unconscionable - do we as Americans allow this to happen because they are poor Mexican women? Because they are a stone's throw from the border and therefore not Americans? Is it because they are cheap labor supplying our passion for electronics and computers?

Can you imagine the outrage and uproar if these were American women?

I am currently looking for a way to help these women, however I do not speak Spanish at all so I am limited in what I can find and what I can read.

I will be working on this this weekend and in the near future. Please stay tuned if you would be interested in assisting with this project as I will most assuredly need help.

On a more personal note I am off to the nursing home this weekend to help with a cook out for the superbowl and I have a mess of letters I've written but need mailed and I have Feb.'s cards to get ready and mail.

Please check back for more Juarez resources and if you are currently doing something there and need assistance, please contact me via this blog.

UPDATE:
I currently have two people willing to translate for me - woo hoo thank you Jesus!!!! By phone even, but I'll have to get a phone card I guess.
